Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup Party
Last Sunday was a perfect summer day on the New England coast, and a great day for a party.
How about a Stanley Cup party?
The Stanley Cup, overlooking Narragansett Bay in Newport, RI.
The Stanley Cup is awarded each year to the winners of the National Hockey League playoffs. Hockey tradition runs deep, and one tradition holds that, after the season ends, each member of the winning team gets a their own day with the Cup. Cup day generally includes a charity event, a public appearance for the fans and a private party for the player to celebrate the win with family and friends.
Which is where I was last Sunday.
Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Penguins!
The party was at beautiful Belle Mer in Newport, RI, and coordinated by the cool, calm and collected Sarah True of True Event. This gorgeous venue was a perfect place to enjoy the (slight) breeze on a hot summer day.
Doesn’t this elegant table look delicious? The savory light bites served in stations around the venue were the perfect solution to dining on a hot day, and the professional staff at Belle Mer made it all run just so smoothly.
Yumiko at Hana Floral Design did a gorgeous, inspired interpretation of the Penguins team colors.
Mike Cyr of Buzz Media Company was on hand to cover the day with his storytelling talents.
It was an incredible location for both adults and children.
And with lots of families there enjoying the day, I found plenty of willing subjects.
The Stanley Cup made for popular seating with the wee ones.
And as the sun went down, the festivities continued!
Drinking from the Stanley Cup is very nearly required at these parties.
When in Rome…even the photographers drink from the cup.
If I had to guess, I think he’s saying, “Pittsburgh Penguins are number one!”
