Want a G-U-N, too?

Okay, my heart is officially broken. The real world, it has broken through our little bubble, and everyday little nuggets like this one pop out.

My sweet firstborn boy, carefully examining the youthful, bright blue-and-green repeating dinosaur pattern on his pajamas last night said, “Mom, is this cam-U-flage?”

“Uh, yes, I guess you could call it that,” I choke out. “See how that kind of pattern would make it easy for you to hide in, say, a garden?”

“So, Mom,” he says, ignoring my garden reference. “Can we get cam-U-flage shirt and pants?”

Thank you, Henry, for falling off the bed just then! I’m so not ready to have a conversation about “army guys” and soldiers and war. For like 30 more years.

    Oooo…Anna! I feel your pain!

Just last night we were looking through a book on horses and we came to a page about how horses are used in battles. I made up some stuff about how horses sometimes get dressed up and go in parades and turned the page, but I know the day is going to come when I have to deal with this issue. Sigh.

Oh, Anna, I’m pretty sure you would have a hard time in my family. Coming from the great northwoods, camouflage is a way of life LOL! Yes, we come from hunting families, and one of the first things my dad did was buy some “mossy oak” camo overalls for his little grandson. 🙂

No, no, NO! I am plugging my ears and denying that this day will come – sooner rather than later, if her daddy has his choice.

My 4 year old nephew loves “camo-lage” print pants. Not sure what drew him to them initially, but they are his favorite. Then again, this is the child that when asked his favorite vegetable replies, “meat”.

Where do they learn this stuff? Somehow I just don’t picture your household covered in camo and decorated with stuffed deers, but maybe I am way off here.

You could always pull the photog card, yes? hiding in the tundra cameoflaged to sneak up and take a photo of a cool animal? why do you have to think of guns and war?
